Staying connected

These sweet little things are Black Australop chicks at 1 day old, huddled and warm under the brooder light.  They will replace the few older hens that are starting to slow down egg production.  And no, they are not  my usual realm of responsibilities.  (There may be some children that are taken with all things critter related even siding up to the hives to learn just where that yummy honey is from.

I'm more than ready to connect with people...but when out am sorta concerned how tentative folks are to  be anywhere near any other person.  It's sorta sad.  Those with health concerns and/or are ill, I so understand.  Some of this may be necessary...But many healthy seem to be caught in the fear of the
"what ifs".   God help us.
Let's be wise  but stay human.  Use common sense  not to blow things out of perspective.
I've had just about enough home projects..but things did get done.
Weather here is still pre-garden.   Most of the perennial bulbs are ebbing,
but still look good from the street.
Turning my attention to prepping the birdhouses and feeders.
The orange streamers and cone are not  boundary warnings,
but are lures to entice the
orioles to the feeder. Not yet, but maybe.
Oh, the wrens are singing up a rowdy chorus...hope they settle into the house hung outside the kitchen sink window.
The hummers are often back here by Mother's Day (early May), so I'll need to fill the feeder soon.

Finished 2 springtime sweaters for the pre-school girls.  All the children seem to be enjoying time outside this April!
..before the buttons...

This picture  from last year?   What I hope to celebrate soon...
7 pair of boots on the mat
Meaning 7 folks of various ages
Inside, and snuggling with each other!!
(When we are all together, there are considerably more shoes/boots left in front of the door!)

  1. I am SO with you on the healthy people seeming tentative to be near one another! They have all fallen for a bunch of manipulative misstatements. Have they forgotten: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. I think they have abandoned their sound minds for a spirit of fear.
On a happier note, I LOVE your boots outside the door photo from last year. Sigh...
And your chicks are adorable and your knitting is just beautiful : )
