Simple Mother's Day Cake.....
![]() |
Baked a simple 8x8 inch cake this week.. Can you see how much we loved it? It's from the King Arthur Baking site,
and a favorite link for you to go to:
It was an easy, bake then frost in the pan. Please let me know how it goes. Really, next to my Fireman's choc. cake recipe, its my favorite everyday cake.
of course, some sprinkles do help. HINT...don't skimp on the amounts of vanilla and almond extract.
Recipe is perfect as written!!
The hummers
and orioles returned last Saturday...remember the orange lures I set out?
Well the orioles found them, or all the flowering crabapple type blossoms close by did the trick!Probably should remove the burlap streamers and cone....
Upstairs BR. is getting settled. Our old home, though new to us, has needed tons of redoing these past couple years. Not just for style, but to make is clean and fresh. There will be a couple major things, but for now paint and paper upstairs.
Paint continues from the walls up and over the ceiling. The (free ) vintage paper was just enough for the end wall...minus a spot under the window, which mandated where the old bed will go. Also need to find a ceiling fixture. Thankful it's about finished. An no, there will be no BEFORE pictures!!
Missing my special ladies this Mother's Day.
Seems as though we can't get our arms around many loved ones this week.
Though I would, in a heart beat.....

Love your simple Mothers day cake. Thanks for the sight. Will have to try it.
ReplyDeleteBirds are so pretty and such a welcome sight. (I kinda like your orange ribbons, lol)
I too... miss my mama and grandmother, this Mothers Day.
Would love to have and receive a big Ole hug. A family reunion in heaven will be so wonderful.
