Renewed and Refreshed
Has anyone else put their hearts and thoughts elsewhere these past months?
It's been a 'gestational period' of time since I've posted. After consciously deciding to prioritize life,
and lay aside blog life for a season, I chose to settle more into contentedness... The months saw seasonal changes; gardens produced flower and veg, the chickens grew, books were read, sewing and knitting was enjoyed, and friends walked alongside.
For me, that meant trying to be intentional with friendships and my relationship with my Lord.
It's been a difficult year. I suspect many have found who they can count on for encouragement and counsel. Sadly, some relationships have been strained as well.
We remember that it's only for a season, and that the 'sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.' We are being prepared for God's good next thing. I am excited!
Each fall I pot bulbs and store them down in the RedBarn til late winter,
then gradually bring them into the house. These Hyacinths were lovely... and some daffodils are enroute.
In the last year, just our 2nd at RedBarn, we had time to start some projects. I'm thinking maybe you did as well?😉 We de-papered, painted, re-papered, painted more, and finally tackled the kitchen update. The Gardener has taken on the role of HandyHusband, and supplemented the hired WorkMan when time and skill allowed.
The kitchen had been changed bits and pieces by the (solitary) previous owner during the last 60 yrs, but the basics had remained the same. The style was fine, but it was SO dark; just 1 window,
and the function and mechanics needed to be replaced.
After it began....
We removed the wall to the adjacent bedroom/sewing room to access the light from the back side of the house. Did I mention the kitchen was dark?My LR temporary kitchen for 7 weeks. SO THANKFUL that sweet memory is now stowed away! The little round paper on the window trim said KITCHEN, so I'd know it really was.
The kitchen was flipped to the back of the house, since all the piping was being replaced anyway!
We moved out 2 weeks ago so the flooring could get finished. Hoping to return within days now.
PHEW
Then the fun begins with more paint, stain, and replacing things currently stored on the other 2 floors of the house.... Including Miss Kitty Pearl who has been daily tended, patted, and anxiously awaiting her old favorite spots...
Thanks be to God for some very special folks who kindly took us in. We've HAVE been making very special friends, indeed, during these last months....

Love the story that the boots tell. All the visits, children and adults alike.
