June, so far...

A favorite recipe: Coffee Chip Cookies
Blend in the mixer:
1 c. shortening (butter flavored is good) and 1 1/2 c. granulated white sugar

Then add 2 t. imitation vanilla and 2 beaten eggs.

Spoon in 2 1/2 c. flour, then 1/4 c. instant decaf coffee granules, and 1 1/2 c. choc. chips or other kind.

Mini ice cream scoop the cookies  onto greased cookie sheets.     350* 16-18' or til done. Set on rack a few minutes, then remove cookies   to cool.

This month the whirly-gig laundry got placed back out and the plastic lines wiped with a soapy-bleach solution before the first use of the line.  Lines get dirty, and the plastic covered wire ones are easily cleaned once in a while.  (birds and dirt, don't you know?)
I started with a 'rag' load.  After using cloth rags and towels for cleaning, they get dried in the garage, then washed when they accumulate a full load.  The green micro-fiber clothes say FLOOR in magic marker, and are used for kitchen spills, then rinsed and dried before laundered.  It saves tons of paper towels, and the money saved can go to food...especially with today's crazy prices.

The flower gardens are coming along, the June roses mostly gone by, the hydrangeas are trimmed of last years dead stalks. I like to wait til the new growth is coming along.  My son gave us some hollyhock shoots that are doing well next to the Landing.
Been eating some strawberries, early kale and herbs, and TONS of loose leaf lettuce.  The last few days of heat and rain has done its work, and the tomatoes are flowering and the weeds everywhere
 abound!

We've gone from wool sweaters to 'where are in fans?'  here, and like some of you, I've been cleaning out the freezer and making some jam, as we anticipate more berries.  No apples this year..but the raspberries look promising.  The spring honey is lovely; pale and tastes like daffodils if that is possible??        Oh, a picture of Miss Kitty Pearl, and her new friend that I won't let inside, 😉.

Isn't it reassuring to know that our loving Father is protective of us, as well?    All our 'every days' filter through His loving hands.  He protects, establishes, blesses and encourages us.  And when we come to Him in repentance or even in confusion as to what our world is dealing with, He takes us to Himself, and comforts us.   His mercies are new every morning!

  2. Yes! Praise to Him in everything! Those cookies look wonderful. Coffee and chocolate are the best flavor combination.
